While we try to teach our children about life, our children teach us what life is about - author unknown

For real life?

Our valley girls have coined their own phrase....."Are you just joking?" - it's so adorable to hear Hannah say this (or when she says "I'm just joking" when she does something she knows she's not supposed too)....but when we don't reply to their question about joking (when we really are joking by the way), they ask back "For real life?"....too cute!

Thanksgiving Week

After I put all our Christmas decorations up....notice the snowman in the middle (smiley face), I couldn't bring myself to take down the girls artwork we have hanging on the kitchen windows from Thanksgiving....eventually I did (b/c I know Christmas artwork will soon replace it), but I took this picture first....at dinner every night, they loved telling us which one was theirs and how they made it...such pride, so adorable - smiley face!

We've had a fabulous & fun week off for Thanksgiving - we played & played (and it may be only Saturday - but I think Chris is ready to go back to work to have a break - hee hee). It started last weekend in my eyes (b/c the girls didn't have preschool at all this week)....and Chris worked from home b/c he had to do some vending stuff too & that was just easier (we're lucky he can do that from time to time)....so he's been with us all week. I'm not one to sit at home (no surprise!!!) so I had a packed calendar for us (well - at least one activity each day - for at least 2 hours out of the house - smiley face). We always love being a tourist in our own city....Atlanta is a great place to live!

Monday had playdates in the morning and ran errands - Grandpa & Granny arrived that night and we had everyone over for dinner on my side of the family except Gma.

Tuesday we went to the train museum (but couldn't get in - oops!) and then went bowling w/ Grandpa. That night, Meredith & I had a tennis match - we lost - ergh!!!! I hate to lose, but do LOVE to play - smiley face! We both didn't play well, but figured out the success to our tennis these days is to have Meredith play MORNING matches - this far along in her pregnancy, she's too tired at night. Oh well - next season - smiley face!

Wednesday Dad & Judy tried to take Lexy & Hannah to see the movie Bolt. I thought by now they would be movie ready (Lexy has only been to the theater once - on her fourth bday with Chris - she got antsy after an hour of the movie)...this time, she got scared. I know we shelter our children from tv/movies (they only watch PBS really - and the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse or Mary Poppins on disney - occassionally Lexy watches The Sound of Music, but we have to skip the war talk scenes - anyway - I'm on my usual tangent now - smiley face), but I think we have to toughen them up now.....but I'm just not sure now. We have talked about having Movie night with the girls - and do it occasionally, but it's really just about the popcorn and twizzlers Chris buys b/c he's the only one that can sit still long enough to enjoy a movie at home....smiley face

Thursday was turkey day (well for everyone else - smiley face - I enjoyed some shrimp & lots of sides - Chris pointed out why Abby only loves her carbs b/c it's all I had on my plate - smiley face). We enjoyed another holiday at Nana & Papa Faklaris' home. While it's so wonderful & easy to go there (we enjoy everyone's company & have a fun time - although we missed Aunt Laura & Uncle Adam and Aunt Meredith & Uncle Tom - and everything is always wonderfully decorated - Chris' mom outdoes herself year after year), it does make me sad that we don't have any holiday meals at our home. While we try to create traditions of our own, I have to appreciate that traditions including our extended family - and that I am fortunte my side of the family enjoys joining the Faklaris family side (and is so welcome -smiley face) - won't be here - smiley face. LOL and fun creating future memories!

Friday we enjoyed the Train Museum - FUN. It had been three years since I took a young Lexy - I was pregnant with Hannah - and I have to admit, I didn't think we'd like it that much, but wanted to do something different with everyone so I suggested it. It was fun - the girls had a blast and although I don't think we'll go back for another 2 years - I would recommend it to others - smiley face! That afternoon we started getting out our Christmas decorations....yippee! "It's the most wonderful time of the year!"

Saturday I ran all kinds of errands - Hannah was lucky enough to be invited to join her friend Jane Brooks with their family to the Center for Puppetry Arts. After more Christmas decorating (thanks Chris, Lexy & Abby for hanging our wreaths - smiley face), we watched lots of football and enjoyed dinner at Dad & Judy's condo. Have a safe trip home - see you at Christmas - smiley face!

Sunday morning sweet Abby woke up fussing and had a high fever that came on fast. After a bit of juice, she got sick all over herself and our bed...poor girl! I took Lexy & Hannah to church with me that morning (I had signed up for door duty b/c to be honest, if I hadn't I'm not sure we would have made it - smiley face) and Chris stayed home to sleep with & comfort Abs! That afternoon, Chris took the girls (less Abby - we were home hoping to plant pansies - the weather didn't let us) to see The Best Christmas Pagent Ever with his mom, Kaia & Sean - Hannah said at the end that "all of them are my favorites" when they were taking their final bow. That night, my mom brought over Chicken Chili she had made to share with everyone - yum! Thanks mom!

December is tomorrow and the house is decorated (less the tree - love the rain, need the rain, but who wants a wet tree in their house?! smiley face)....looking forward to all the fun & festivities the Christmas season brings - smiley face! LOL!

Go Gators

The girls with Granny - we went to their condo to watch FL beat FSU (poor Chris and Tom - stinks that USC and UGA didn't represent the SEC better - hee hee). Seriously - it does stink that they lost! We always cheer for the SEC - smiley face!

Train Museum - take two!

A visit from engineer Santa (Abby would have NOTHING to do with him - but did talk to him when he wasn't around to hear her - so cute!) ...and btw, if this wasn't the only one of these photos w/ Santa I would NEVER have posted it - I might be bringing more attention to it (and you might have looked at our adorable girls or Santa and not noticed, but is that a muffin top that I have?! OMG - gross!!! Please tell me it's just the way my shirt fell - smiley face!)

Lexy & Hannah on our train ride (we rode in the cabose and we were up in the high seat by the window)....if you ignore the sunlight in the background - I love this picture - smiley face!

With Grandpa & Granny (thanks for treating us!!!)

The girls had a BLAST at the train museum with Grandpa, Granny, Gma and Aunt Meredith....we enjoyed lunch at the Train Depot (after a 37 min break waiting for a REAL train that trapped us at the museum) in Norcross afterwards. It was such a beautiful day (we missed Daddy though!!!).

Happy Thanksgiving!

The Faklaris grandkids - Sean, Emma, Abby, Kaia, Lexy & Hannah
Emma & Abby
Hannah had a minor meltdown (no nap these days) when her gigantic lollipop from Nana broke - however it was quickly headed off when she realized she could eat a turkey cupcake instead - smiley face

Happy Tgiving - in our driveway before we all piled in the car with my mom, dad & Judy to go to Chris' parents for Thanksgiving

Our Animals

Just thought they looked cute in their animal dresses - smiley face! Hannah had her cowgirl boots on with her cow dress and Abby is "munching" like a giraffe in both pictures! And yes, Lexy has makeup on - aie yi yi - it's just not worth it to worry about it - luckily she puts it on so much these days that the gift is almost gone - smiley face!

Bowling w/Grandpa

Hannah won the game (and when we told Lexy - the EVER competitive one - that Hannah was winning she became "bored" and didn't want to play anymore - nevermind the fact that Lexy was having a blast and was really bowling (or tossing the ball down the alley - hee hee - and Hannah & Abby were using the ramp....so then Lexy decided she wanted to use the ramp).

"Mommy - help me!"

We were headed to the Train Museum this morning - but I didn't totally read the website and they weren't open on Wednesdays...so we went bowling instead (yes - we were totally bundled up & had to strip down b/c we were inside instead of outside in the freezing cold!)

Karoke!

The girls can't read yet (Lexy's S-L-O-W-L-Y learning - smiley face), but they love to SING! Here they are doing a karoke show for Grandpa, Granny, Aunt Meredith, Uncle Tom, Daddy & Mommy. Abby was a soloist for what seemed like an eternity with Twinkle Twinkle Little Star (she LOVES that song - and the ABCs too) - adorable - smiley face!

A visit from the Runnels

We were so excited to see Cass and her children (we missed you Ted) during her trip home this Thanksgiving. The girls had a fun time playing with Jackson, Lily (she's only three months older than Lexy) and Mac (he's six months older than Abby - or I guess I could say - six months younger than Hannah - smiley face). It was a short visit, but a fun one! I'm glad that facebook keeps us somewhat connected - smiley face.

Baking with my girls

I thought this was cute - the girls from behind as we were baking a few days before Thanksgiving....smiley face!

Monkey Joes

The Faklaris & Barrett girls

While Mommy volunteered at A Space of My Own for JLD, Daddy took the girls to Monkey Joes with the Barrett girls and Minor boys - as well as some others. He said they got their early & had the place to themselves and got a workout from running through everything with the girls - such a big kid at heart! Thanks for a fun morning Daddy - smiley face!

Swimming with Daddy!

Chris flew in from CA early this week - yahoo! - and we went early to the Y for Lexy's cheerleading class so the girls could swim in the pool. They had a blast...while Abby wasn't "swimming" like she was at the end of the summer, she did warm up & start enjoying it on her own, although she wouldn't jump to Chris like she did at the pool all summer (well - she didn't really jump to us - she jumped & we had to grab her doggy paddling without taking a breath little self so she could do it all again - smiley face).

Lexy & Hannah's Thanksgiving Feasts

After school, I got a picture of Lexy in her indian outfit - her teacher dyed a white pillowcase, then the children painted them....Lexy LOVES it but says it smells like syrup (hee hee - she used tea to dye them). Here's a picture of her with her baby in the papose
Princess Sunflower (she picked her Indian name out in school last week)

A picture of Hannah "mixed" - she wanted to be both pilgrim (hat) and indian (vest) - too cute!

Lexy & Josie
Lexy & Jack (they were in the 3s class together 2 years ago & were the best buddies - now they are friends but their class is pretty much boys play with boys and girls play with girls...except for Sam - he's a trooper and the girls love him - smiley face).

sweet pilgrim Lexy

Josie, Lexy & Kate with their teachers - we love Ms Langdon & Ms Curtwright!!!!! Thanks for a FABULOUS Thanksgiving feast...smiley face!

Lexy & Elizabeth (that's Hannah's Georgie's older sister)

Lexy & Sam

Josie, Lexy, Kate & Elizabeth with Ms. Stewart - the preschool director
Lexy had her Thanksgiving Feast today (Hannah did too but I didn't get any pictures - I stopped in her room & the girl already had all her pilgrim wear off and was not interested in a photo b/c she was playing with Maggie in the homeliving area - oh well - smiley face - I'm sure she looked sweet and enjoyed all the fruit their class brought in for their cornicopia). Anyway...Lexy's class prepared for their Thanksgiving feast all week (some were indians and others pilgrims - they have both costumes - Lexy loves to talk about her inidian one b/c she has a papoose (sp?) for her baby on her back - so sweet) - and really did have Tgiving food (turkey, dressing, cranberry, corn & cornbread, mashed potatoes - wow it was a lot of food), then they invited the parents to join them for pumpkin pie - yum! What a cute class....we are so happy everyday that Lexy is doing Young 5s - smiley face!!!
