While we try to teach our children about life, our children teach us what life is about - author unknown

Abby's Mystery Reader

After 8 years at the preschool - I think this was the second time I've ever been mystery reader (Chris usually does it when he's in town - or we have guest surprises from our grandparents or Aunts)....of course, I forgot to get a picture - smiley face.

Abby was so surprised and it was sweet to read Valentine's Day books to her class..I surprised her with two new ones too (Llama llama is now her new favorite...and Splat is Hannah's so I got one of those).....good times - smiley face

Quiz Bowl

Hannah represented her class this morning in the kindergarten quiz bowl...much like lexy two years ago she never mastered the buzzer, even asking mid question for a new buzzer bc hers wasn't working...Awwww! Regardless, she studied hard & knew everything about black history month.

2nd grade is having theirs tomorrow...lexy's teacher drew names out of a hat since so many knew all the questions & she wasn't selected to represent her class. Thoughtfully she said even if she was picked she would have let someone else have her spot bc she's participated (& won!) the past 2 years

So sweet...their desire to learn...smiley face

Happy Valentine's Day

Chris was in Arizona for Valentine's Day...but that didn't stop him for spoiling us with traditions...he bought flowers and had them in vases at my sister's house before he left - she brought them over the night before Vday so the girls (and me) would wake up to a vase full of flowers (for the number of years old they are) with candy and a thoughtful card.  WE LOVE YOU DADDY!  Happy Valentine's Day - smiley face

Lexy's Lenten Goal...

So sweet...this morning she asked when lent starts bc she is going to exercise everyday!!   She said she'll only have to exercise on her own a few days b/c she has bball, soccer and swim practice (but bball & swim team end next week)....I love her motivation - smiley face

Hannah's Daisy Troop does yoga

Three Sport Saturday

With the start of spring sports, but winter ones still going...Saturday was a CRAZY busy fun day....

Lexy had a 3v3 soccer tournament that started at 8am - Hannah had a bball game at 9:30am - Lexy had a bball game at 3:30pm - and Lexy Hannah & Abby had a swim meet at 3pm....

We all slept good Sat night - smiley face

Lexy singing in choir...thanks to Nana & Papa for joining us for church to see her sing - smiley face!

A Valentine's Day Wish

Dear Mom,
Have you thought of a valentine's gift for me?  If not, I would like a book shelf to separate books I have already read to the books I have not read.
Your daughter who wants more space,
Lexy

When I emailed this to Chris...he said "well get her a bookshelf"....mr never wants to spend money LOVES this persuasive letter writing campaign at school - smiley face.  BTW - we did get her a bookshelf for Vday!

a plea for more recess time....

Two Letters from Lexy

Dear fellow friends,
Would you please try lining up fast at recess so we can have extra recess.  It would be lots of fun to come in late for math and have a longer play time.
Your fellow student friend,
Lexy

Dear Ms Glass, (she had a sub this day)
Can you please give us extra recess because if we get extra recess we will get more fresh air and fresh air is good for kids.  Also if we get extra recess our brains will be fresh for learning and we will do better in math.
Yours truly,
Lexy

Family

I love my family & the fun times we share together....we have the best times!!!  I also love it when our girls play together on their own...creating, imagining & pretending but lately I've loved the one on one times I've had with them...painting toe nails w abby & playing hello kitty bingo, reading books w Hannah, talking while bike riding w lexy and date nights w Chris....just makes you realize how fast they are growing up & how old we are all getting...together!!!  It's these precious moments that I'll remember with a smile on my face.  Our life is good and our family is great!!!

Super Bowl Brownies

Our new favorite...super bowl brownies (we named them that b/c it was the first time we  made them...we've made them three times since and it's only been a week (Hannah brought them in for show & tell - YUMMY treats and Lexy brought them in for Teacher Appreciation Week and I served them at Woodland Wine Night).

Lexy's teacher made them for the 2nd grade staff and Lexy thought they looked so good she asked for the reciepe....

cookie dough on the bottom
layer with oreos (we used double stuff)
cover with brownie mix

bake for 35 mins at 350....

YUM!!!!  smiley face

Feed N Seed

A week after serving at Trinity, it was our sunday school class' turn to serve at Feed N Seed.  They loved the fried chicken for Super Bowl Sunday...smiley face

More letters....smiley face!

Dear Mrs Husack
You must move my seat.  It's tragedy.  Everybody talks nonstop (unless you say we have to be quiet).  Also because when they talk they annoy me and they make me want to get in the conversation and then I can't get my work done and then I have to rush through it to get it finished on time and then it is messy and that looks terrible out of the lines and then I hate that it looks messy and that everybody else's looks beautiful.
Your annoyed by the talking student

Abby misses Daddy

Chris has been traveling a lot in February...when Abby had a playdate one day, this is the conversation she had at lunch....
"my dad went to NY for work for three whole days! I mean 3 days!!!!! I miss him"

...awwwww...so sweet!

Note to the girls.....

I think it was Hannah that said she couldn't wait for Daddy to get home b/c he was so fun.  Lexy quickly recovered for her and said they are so thankful for me too b/c she realized what her sister said.  It made me smile.

I recognize I'm not the fun mom all the time (most of the time - I'm cranky and demanding b/c I like things the way I like them - ha ha).  I push them to clean up and do their work - Chris does too, but he's not here in the afternoons (or evenings when he's traveling for work) and I want him to come home to a clean house w/ their homework & chores done so he can enjoy them.  It didn't offend me at all.  In fact, it made me thankful that we have Chris/Daddy in our lives - he is the fun one.

I may be disappointed inside sometimes b/c he does whisk in and surprise us all w/ fun activities from time to time - disappointed only b/c I didn't think of it - but I love that he does it - for me too.  He's wonderful and provides such a balance in our lives.

It made me reflect this week as I was driving to get the shopping done and pick up the girls for their activities....I hope they realize that I love them more than they can imagine!

I may not be the fun one, but you mean the world to me....I love listening to you play together & laugh every afternoon when you head outside/downstairs to the basement to enjoy all that we have and I always check on you at night when you are sleeping and so peaceful.  It makes me realize...family is so important!  And I love ours more than you could know!

Trinity Table

We served as a family again at Trinity Table...the girls were wonderful runners (bread & crackers), greeters and to go bag distributors.  It was quite crowded this Sunday b/c three organizations were there serving.  So glad our girls can experience giving back and realize all that others don't have (hopefully instilling a sense of mission w/in them as well as thankfulness for all we have).
