While we try to teach our children about life, our children teach us what life is about - author unknown

"laking"

I overheard Abby telling her friend Ella this today on our way home from school (Ella was coming over for a playdate).  "I went up to our lakehouse yesterday (she meant two weeks ago, but everything that is past tense in Abby's life is considered yesterday) and went laking (she meant paddling with the canoe oar - she was doing the motions for it while she told Ella which is how I realized what "laking" was).  While I was laking I fell into the water (she & her sisters were goofing around one night on the dock with the oars and she did fall into the water - she wasn't wearing a life jacket - a huge worry of mine, regardless of how well she can swim but Chris reacted FAST) and I wasn't wearing a jacket but my daddy saved me" (such pride in her daddy - it melted my heart).  So sweet!

Brown Shoes

Tuesday Hannah came home from school & immediately told me she had to wear her fastest shoes to school on Thursday....they were going to run around the track & have races & Ms Debbie (her kindergym teacher) told them to wear shoes they could run in.  She picked out her brown mary janes - not what I would have imagined as fast, but it's what she set out that afternoon to get ready (too cute).  I suggested she wear her running shoes & she said no - she's faster in these.  She wouldn't wear them on Wednesday b/c they had to be ready for Thursday.  When I put her tennis shoes in her bag on Thursday morning JUST IN CASE she needed them - she told me she wouldn't.  And when I picked Abby up from school today...I told her kindergym this story (Hannah was in ballet) she laughed and said Hannah came in first place every time & she was running in her brown shoes just clap, clap, clapping down on the track....too funny.  When Hannah came home from school I asked her how it went and she said "I won, I had my brown shoes on" - too funny & so sweet what brown shoes will do for you....smiley face

Happy Easter!

Dying Easter Eggs

While Daddy washed the car (thank you!!!), we dyed & painted Easter eggs inside.  Shocking us all - Abby even tried one of them (with LOTS of salt - but she did eat THREE bites of hers).  God works in amazing ways - smiley face!

Easter Egg Hunt #2

The girls had Easter Egg Hunts at school on Thursday & Friday and they were so excited about their second one Saturday and our neighborhood clubhouse.  Of course I picked out matching dresses and Hannah threw a fit, so we ended up letting each girl pick out their own springy dress - oh well.  I have to choose my battles these days (Chris is afraid if I keep forcing cute clothes upon Hannah she's going to go goth on us - and I have that fear too, but didn't voice it outloud - smiley face - PLEASE DON'T GO GOTH ON US - smiley face).  As usual, the girls had a BALL with all their friends.  Granny & Grandpa joined us for the first time ever too....and Charlie considered partcipating for about a second - ha ha!
